Investigating The People Investigating You
Jan. 2, 2020
Today, we are never very far away from the internet. Our phones rarely get out of arms reach. Citizens are not the only people on the internet. As you read this there are investigators watching your internet traffic and activities. There is an astonishing amount of information on the internet, and investigators do not always collect the correct information.
Making matters worse, sometimes law enforcement take their investigations too far. One way to make sure that law enforcement doesn’t over step their bounds and that all of the evidence is collected is to perform your own investigation. By performing our own investigation, we are able to make sure the client’s rights are protected.
One area where this concern is paramount is in cybercrime. Crimes involving online stalking, child pornography, online bullying etc. At Byars Law we make it a priority to use the same or better investigation techniques as law enforcement.
The judge and jury deserve to know what evidence is out there that helps you and how the evidence that hurts your case was gathered and is it reliable.
Criminal charges that stem from internet use are serious and usually by the time the citizen is arrested, the State or Government have already conducted a long investigation. They have a whole police force working for them, it is paramount that you get on the offensive and start investigating facts that will help you. Learning the facts, and not just the State’s version of the facts, is a minimum requirement in a successful criminal defense.
If you have been charged with a cybercrime, please contact us today to learn how we can help.
